i wonder

right in the midst
of plunging through
this hectic roller-coaster ride

i wonder.

what if we had both met
in some earlier time,
another life,
a different world?

would we still be friends
or sworn enemies,
or lovers maybe?

or would we just be strangers?
and pass each other
on a lonely street
without noticing each other?

or would we still connect
inspite of ourselves
and inexplicably
like we do today?

So often thought of ...never thought it'd make poetry.
Nice and simple.

reminds me of a nazam i read,about lovers on the verge of parting...
"if ever we shall meet,we'll pass each other,pretending to be strangers"....

thats the beauty of poetry,you can see traces of it everywhere! ! !
kudos

@prats : thanx :)
there was a related post ages ago about strangers - http://guruprasad.blogspot.com/2006/11/everybody-was-stranger.html

@ps : :)

@sahasi : thanx pal :)

@brocasarea : yeah i do :P

@keshi : thanx :)
and you keep writing... its fun reading your posts!

@rads : i wonder why? :)
thanx for dropping by... do let me know if you find some answers!

@gazal : nothing comes anywhere close to the pain and anguish that a nazam can communicate so beautifully. the beauty about good shayari is that it beautifies and romanticises pain and longing and parting ... don't you agree?
how i wish i could understand urdu better to really appreciate some of the really good poetry!

WOW. I've wondered about this too. I've asked my husband what he'd have done if we had met in his college or if we had been neighbours? Would we have connected or just ignored each other? mmmm.... beautifully said
